SunRise-SunSet
A furnished house on a working farm. Six months or a year. Essex, New York — not Vermont.
26 Ginkgo Way, Essex, New York. About two miles from the Essex Ferry and the town of Essex, on the New York side of Lake Champlain.
If you have been looking for a quiet place to land while you save for your own spot in the Adirondacks, this is that house. It is not a weekend cabin and it is not a motel. It is a two-year-old starter home, built by a local Amish builder, already lived in through two winters.
The house and the land it sits on get the sunrise and the sunset, both, on every day the weather allows. The porch is where the morning happens.
The house
Framed as three bedrooms. Set up now as two bedrooms and an office. A comfortable living room, an eat-in kitchen, and a full bathroom. Furnished, so you can arrive and live in it. Pictures of what is included are on the listing.
Insulation and store-bought double-pane windows. Heat is a Rinnai sized for a house like this, on a propane tank that is full now, so the house holds heat through the winter without a wood stove to tend. Hot water is a new tankless heater. There is an outdoor clothesline. Internet is Starlink.
The farm
This is a working farm. You do not get the run of the whole place, for your safety and for the work. What you do get is the light, the porch, and the quiet. It suits people, families, and farm workers who want that.
The stay and the price
Six months or a year. All are welcome. $1,775 a month, locked for the term you book. Fuel is already bought, and that rate covers the costs listed on our TurboTenant page.
Trash and recycling are the exception. You get a credit, and you take them to the transfer station.
It will not be the cheapest bed in the area. It is the best this farm has to offer while you are here.
Before you write
Come see it if you are nearby. If you are not, send someone you trust. A picture is not the house. Questions are welcome, and the answers are already mostly here: where it is, what is in it, what is furnished, how it is heated, what the farm will and will not open, and what the month actually covers.
